I can chat probably from 8 pm to 3 am CST :-/
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

I'll be off having our annual family reunion that day. Meanwhile, though, if anyone with the requisite knowledge can help me set up a new proxy for IRC (I can't get on it anymore and I've heard rumors that YourFreedom's server has been officially blocked now), I'd be very much appreciative. In fact, free artwork may be involved if you're interested. My AIM screenname is in my profile.

Oh, and by the way, I'm not doing anything illegal or against official campus policy. IT's official word on why IRC is blocked is that it's for "security" purposes, you know, so we don't end up getting viruses and junk. Our IT department seems to have an "abstinance-only" approach to Internet security.

Have you tried using something like Gaim? You can use IRC on it, and they might not be able to block it.-

They usually can as IT services at universities like blocking all ports but a small, certain list. Makes life much more difficult, thats for sure.

Proxy-wise I can't help as I've been trying to sort out a new way of iRC'ing at uni after they caught the way I used to do it and blocked it :(

I'll be there as much as I can. Not so much on Saturday maybe, more on Sunday if it extends into it.

Just found out that I'm visiting my non-internet connected grandparents at the weekend, so I'll be abscent from the party. Which sucks.

If y'all can shedule another one for some other time, I'll be free for sure as I'll be back in my own house.

Anyways, enjoy the party.

Well, the IRC servers also respond to port 7000, if I recall correctly, but if you simply cannot make it for any particular reason, I would gladly entertain a few other ideas for participation such as:

Multiple venues (IRC and SL, Skype chat, or other IM systems) - The main requirement there is the ability to log public conversations or to provide enough of a synopsis to visualize the scene.

Use of the discussion board - I am hesitant to use the forum for this matter because chat is a far faster medium, and it would easily drown out the rest of the board

Absentee posts - Even if you can't possibly be there live, I can provide a "What would you have done in the channel party?" topic, so that I can still include members in the activity picture. In there, I could post a link to chat logs for forum members to throw themselves in a particular moment to be there in spirit. :P

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Please note that whatever is done, my goal is to get a drawing completed by the beginning of next October, so time is of the essence.

I dunno what I would've done at the chat party.

But if it's like most other parties then I would have probably got very drunk and come-on to any womenfolk before knocking myself out on something heavy :wag:

I'm afraid I most likely wont make it. There's a good chance I'm going to be out that night. Of course, if I happen to be home anytime this is taking place, I'll try to stop in.

Well, if any of you didn't know, we're trying to get into the partying mood right now, so if any of you are up for it, pile onto #definecynical and let's get something going!

If you can't make it there right now, you're welcome to post more stuff here. :)

Sorry I missed it dudes, hope y'all had a nice time while I was bored out of my skull in flat-as-a-pancake Hertfordshire.
