Steve Martin's marriage

I just read that Steve Martin, at 61, has married a 35-year-old.
Much as I appreciate the love between Llewellyn and Ms. Mudd, I'm getting sick of this pattern of celebrity relationships. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore aside, when a partner is old enough to be the other's parent, it's usually the man. When's the last time anyone can recall a famous old(ish) man marrying a woman close to his age? To me, this is implicit disregard for older women.

I'd call it a mid-life crisis, but at 61 he's closer to the end than the middle.
I wonder if true love is actually involved, or if she's just a gold-digger.

I'm more sick of seeing celebrity activity constituting as news. How did we get to the point of caring more about who's marrying who or who's driving drunk than stuff that really matters?
No disrespect to your post Tom. Just a pet peeve I can't seem to let go.
There does seem to be a disregard for older women in some circles. But it's just another thing like media body image and the like that too many people hold unnecessary stock in. All about looking good and being buzz.

My mom says that someone that maries someone thats lots younger than them is a 'pedofile' and that its bad, no matter who it is. I think if he loves her they should be just friends instead.

I'm pretty sure "pedophile" only extends to children, and a 35 year old is no child.

I honestly couldn't care less what celebrity is banging which other celebrity. Nearly all of them are tossers I wouldn't waste piss on if they were on fire.

I brought this up in part because I've had a pretty high amount of respect for Steve Martin, despite his downward trend in movies.

I too had a lot of respect for Steve Martin. He was in one of the funnies movies ever (IMHO), Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

I hadn't even heard about this until now. You see, I live in this bubble cleansed of modern pop culture and magazine glitz. It's rather comfortable.
