Well, I just have to bring it up. It was just so shocking for me. I've copy and pasted a piece my friend wrote for his newsletter.

Chris Benoit: Champion...Challenger...Murderer

By: Jon Ly

Former WWE Superstar Chris Benoit was found dead this past Monday, along with his wife and 7 year old son. Since I am the spearhead of any and all wrestling related news, and whether or not you care, this is all the news that I have gathered as of 1am on June 27, 2007.

Chris Benoit tied up and strangled to death his wife in an upstairs family room. She was bound by the legs and arms, but there were no signs of struggling from her part. There were traces of blood on her face. She died on Friday.

Saturday, Chris Benoit suffocated his son in the child's bed.

On Sunday, Chris Benoit hung himself from one of his weight machines in his home gym.

Chris placed bibles near the bodies of both his wife and child.

All three of their bodies were found Monday afternoon.

Monday night, a 3 hour tribute show was aired in 'honor' of Benoit. While people criticize WWE for doing this I do not, because it was hard for anyone...ANYONE to believe that someone who appeared to be an honest, respectful, caring, and noble person could do such a horrendous crime. So the show aired while facts were not in. Bottom line. They made a mistake and upon learning more information, on Tuesday night's wrestling show, Vince McMahon made an apology and Chris Benoit will no longer be 'honored' or mentioned on WWE programming. His merchandise has also been removed from the WWEShopZone website.

Possible motives right now include Roid Rage. Or the issues that stem from 'cycling off' drugs.

In 2003, Chris and his wife separated and she filed a restraining order because she felt threatened by him. They later reconciled.

Sources say that Chris killed his son, because his son had a rare disease (which was not publicly known anywhere), and that he did not want his son to have to live with the fact that his father killed his mother, and that Chris was afraid that no other family could possibly care for his son with that type of disability.

This is indeed the saddest day for pro wrestling fans everywhere. When Owen died, he went too soon. When Eddie died, it was unfortunate. Benoit's death just makes zero sense. Benoit was the ultimate 'good guy'. He was the absolute best performer in the annals of wrestling history. He seemed like a legit, genuine guy. This crime...tarnishes this. My greatest memory as a fan was in 2004, WrestleMania XX where he overcame all odds and won the top title in wrestling. His matches are some of my favorites of all time. He was the one wrestler I always looked forward to seeing. Now I can't erase this tragedy from my memory. What does this mean for wrestling? Who knows.

The facts are not entirely in, but with what's been reported so far, it doesn't look like anything can change what has already been said.

***************************

I seriously couldn't believe this news when I heard it. While I know longer follow wrestling, it will always hold a special place in my soul. I grew up on the stuff and was a fan for the better half of my life. So I can still look back on the past (distant and recent) with fondness.

I always held such a respect for Chris Benoit. He may not have been great when it came to a wrestling personality, but he more for made up for it in his ability. Hands down I thought he was the best technical wrestler there was. I remember he had a "Best of 7" series with Booker T back in WCW that was just amazing. Oh, and of course his win at Wrestlemania XX was a monumental moment in the wrestling world. I even saw him defend said title from a second row seat at a pay-per-view event.

And now...all those memories and respect mean jack shit because of this utterly disgusting act he committed. I mean....I still can't even comprehend it. How could ANYONE, let alone someone like him, ever do something like that to their own family? It's sick.

The legacy he worked so hard to create now means nothing.

His professional legacy has nothing to do with his personal life though.

Exactly, I mean OJ Simpson was hilarious in Loaded Gun, but he's still a pikachu.

And you know...that whole Hall of Fame running back gig thing he did.

But how in the world can you look back on anything he's done with fondness or respect when you know what deplorable act he committed? He was always talked of as someone to look up to and learn from. He's certainly not that anymore. Yes, he was one of the greatest wrestlers skill-wise to ever get in the ring.....but I don't think I will ever be able to forget this to preach that.

Warren Spahn was an unabashed racist. Babe Ruth was an alcoholic. OJ Simpson is a murderer (most likely). Yet they are still respected for what they did in their professional careers.

I'm not saying that he was right for doing what he did; but I'm not just going to say, oh he wasn't a good wrestler. Though I won't look up to him as someone I might want to emulate anymore.

Huh? What's a "running back", it sounds nasty.

It's when you get bad back acne and all the pimples simultaneously burst.

The force generated by the bursting is enough to propel you a few feet. Simpson was the first to utilise this tactic in a professional game. It was enough to carry him over the goal line.

The person who changed that is a repeat Wiki-vandalist, believed to be more of a coincidence of a gross and strange nature that when he posted that, it was accurate. Granted, the story surrounding this event seems to keep changing; maybe they'll find differently later.

So it's some sort of "football" thing?

Huh...I thought he was just an actor. I've only seen him in Loaded Gun and Capricorn One.
