The inventor of instant ramen died :(

This was actually earlier in the week... Or maybe last week, but anyway Momofuku Ando (?) the owner of Nissin (Top Ramen and Cup Noddles) died at the age of 96 due to heart failure. That isn't exactly a 'natural' death, He probably would have lived a little longer. Surprisingly he is survived by his WIFE and two sons. It actually isn't that surprising, he lived in Osaka, Japan, and there is a place (not sure if this is the one) where the average life expectency of women is 100+ years old, and for men it is about 96.

Hard for me to be sad about the death of a guy I'd assumed was already dead, but I do appreciate his contribution.

Woah, I honestly never thought I'd see the day... Ramen noodles (the instant variety) are freeze dried (or some kind of dried)Japanese noodles, each package comes with a little package of the flavoring chosen (Chicken, vegetable, beef, ect), without the solids think of powdered soup. You boil the noodles and put the flavor packet contents in, it actually tastes pretty good as that kind of thing goes.

I've actually had authentic ramen soup, it was what was called salt ramen, it was the noodles with some meat and some vegetables, the meat was salt pork (hence salt ramen), and of course the broth. It was excellent, the instant variety pales in comparison, although as I've said as instant food goes its grrrreat!

Heh, Pot Noodles. Reminds me of something from Red Dwarf...

RIMMER: The only food we have left is dog food and Pot Noodles.
LISTER: Well, I know what I'll eat first. I can't stand Pot Noodles.

In NZ they're called 2 minute noodles. And they're still horrible.

ROOSTER'S NOODLES SUCK D:<
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Hush-a-by lady, in Alice's lap!
Till the feast's ready, we've time for a nap:
When the feast's over, we'll go to the ball --
Red Queen, and White Queen, and Alice, and all!

I lived with a Canadian guy in my first year, an he was amazed that the British drink flat, warm beer, and pay for it.

But Bitter is way nicer than lager, and doesn't give you as much of a hangover.

That and all yankee beer I've tasted is piss. Same with all the aussie beer I've had. But I suspect that the cheap crapola that makes it over here isn't the best those countries have to offer. Like, we export Carling all over the world...that stuff IS piss. Just 400 Liverpudlians weeing into a large vat._

I find Samuel Adams drinkable, and that's about it. As for British noodles, well, Britain just has a bad rap when it comes to food in general.
