The Michael Richards... thing

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just search YouTube or something. (Our work blocks YouTube, so I can't post a link.)
Basically, Michael Richards (Kramer from "Seinfeld") went nuts at a recent stand-up event. A couple of Black guys were heckling him, and he called them... something very bad... many times.
So yeah. Thoughts?

I'm getting tired of celebrities defending their comrades when they do something obviously bad. Jerry Seinfeld is doing himself no favor by saying that Richards isn't racist, and I doubt the latter will profit from the defense either.
The modern milieu makes it difficult to admit one's own bigotry even to oneself. But that's no excuse.

Big deal. He lost control and made a mistake. It happens to everybody. Just because he used a racist word it doesn't make him racist.

Just because he used a racist word it doesn't make him racist.
He didn't just say the N word, which would be bad enough. He said something to the effect that the heckler would have gotten a terrible punishment decades ago. It sounded as tho he were hoping for the KKK to make a comeback.

Another beloved celebrity that's tragically hit rock bottom. It would be nice if he could make ammends and pick himself up from all this...but honestly, he wasn't really up before this happened.
