Ok... what the hell? 2 days ago, there was an official statement that a party was formed here (Netherlands) that defends the rights of paedophiles. Now if there's anything disturbing then it's this, but freedom of speech lets them say crazy things like this...

The right to free speech allows people to say stuff like this. The right to free thought should motivate people to ignore it.

You'll notice that they didn't play down the story at all. They're a few depraved losers crying for attention, not any significant organization. That is if Dutch politics is anything like Canadian, where you don't need to finish high school, let alone be sober or wearing pants to form your own political party...

Pedophilia is actually a psychological problem. Some pedophiles have perfectly normal lives. The depraved weirdos are the ones who become sexual predators.

If you have a mental condition, use your imagination, watch lolicon, do somehting, but I think they should be watched. The only reason Pedophilia is worse than any other demented fetish is that in almost all cases, there is a victom. It's rape, enough said. Wether you're born with it or you develop a tumor, it's still rape. Precautions need to be taken. If you are diognosed with a condition in which you may cause harm to anyone, it should be on you lisence and kept in hospital records. It's too bad for these people, I will not tolorate it.

I am not quite sure where you got that conclusion, but much information has been to the contrary, such that many of those who have sexually assaulted a child had also raped weaker adults, been abusive in other forms, or had merely committed a crime of opportunity, and their motives are not necessarily pedophilia. Also, there are a number of "pedophiles" who also consider sexual abuse reprehensible, regardless of the victim's age. More likely than not, they will be the ones first in line to retaliate against anyone who would dare harm a child.

Still, the legalization of underage sex seems way too much of an encouragement for pedophiles to practice coersion or forceful techniques to obtain anything they can claim as consent, and well, I don't believe there are enough responsible people out there to prevent such an admendment from being misused.
