Just to let you American users know, tonight (September 30) is the first Presidential debate. I don't know where any of you stand, and frankly I don't care, but I think all of you ought to tune in. IMHO, it's just as much a civic duty as voting. Thank you.<br><br>If nothing else, it should be rather entertaining. <!--emo&:P--><img src='

Bush does not sound like the crazy old pioneer from Blazing Saddles.<br><br><br>There's no way to read his dialogue there except in that voice.<br><br><br>None.

I'd like to, but my lack of a television set is interfeering with that plan.<br><br>Oh well, it's not like there's much that'll change my mind at this point.

Oddly enough, the candidates weren't as mean-spirited as they could have been, considering the severity of the issues. Seems there was a lot more bitterness back in 2000, ironically.

Well, now that the first debate is over, you can now read <a href='

In world cultures we talked about the debates for a minute.<br><br>In Spanish we spent 10 minutes...<br><br>I watched them and thought it was neat, I can't compare it since this is the first time i've ever cared enough to watch these things so i have no idea how it really went, but a few of the bush supporters at school this morning did admit that kerry did a damn good job.

Senator Kerry and President Bush played well to the kind of people who would likely vote for them. Kerry was articulate and demanding. Bush was not so cerebral, but had, in my opinion, greater personal appeal. He came across as sure of himself and ready to make unpopular decisions, while Kerry seemed more polished and prepared. I think Bush's personality is why he is so popular in rural regions, while city folk tend to gravitate towards Kerry's Ciceronian arguments.
