"one nation, under God"

grr, come on. the government needs to keep themselves consitant!

1) if you are going to remove religion, then DON'T LET IT EFFECT OTHER LAWS, such as MARRIAGE!

2) If kids want to take a minute or two to do so, LET them! just make certain it doesn't inturupt studies of their own, or others. Don't scold them for using their right to free speach, OR freedom of religion! Also, if you DO want to remove religion from schools, fine. do so, but do it to EVERY RELIGION EQUALLY! It's just not done equally, which is what gets me a bit angry.

3) separation of chuch and state is a good thing, but we need some people without jaded views to fix things that are going badly.

it would take someone with some wisdom in the whitehouse to do that to.... ah, crap, then it's never happening!
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

Wisdom in the White House? I believe there's some sort of invisible barrier against that . . maybe even a dampening field surrounding DC . . .

...the greater good of what?

At my school we have to sing hymns every morning in our chapel, and we have to pray as well. Most people still don't, but the one of the teachers (a member of the 3-strong 'secret police') walks round during hymns and prayers to check that everyone is doing it.

What the hell happened to freedom of speech and freedom of religious practice? Forcing me to sing hymns from a religion I don't belong to is wrong, IMO.

god save our gracious Queen
god save our gracious Queen
god save our Queen

Need I say more? Well, at my school ur supposed to sing, and bring ur hymn book, and pray but one morning when the head teacher was going on about ppl not bringing them, he said that if u don't believe in god then he understands that you may not want to sing or pray but to bring the book anyway.
The end is nigh!
In this particular issue, I believe that a compromise is the best solution.

I think they should keep "under God" in. And schools should say the pledge at the beginning of the day. (This keeps one side happy)

But the individual should have the choice of whether to recite it or not. (This keeps the other side happy)

Yup, I agree with that. Everyone who wants do, does. Anyone who doesn't want to, doesn't. And anyone offended by the people that don't must remember the whole freedom of speech thing you guys wrote up a few centuries ago, and anyone offended by the people that do are just crazy.
