Except America is under a very different system than Hitler's Germany. History doesn't always repeat itself. It Also happened through a slow process by first putting blame on the Jews, then slowly and carefully taking away their privalges at such a slow rate, that no one noticed until it was too late. Stratagy by Hitler. And when that Amendment was put forth, "Holocaust 2.0" popped in my mind, making me think, "This will be a slow process done by bush to remove the rights of Gays untill eventually it lead to Genocide."
Bush to Support Gay Amendment

Pravda used to love doing those Hitler/Bush comparisons, but, unless you're saying that they both were human and failable, comparing Bush and Hitler has very little meaning.Yes but if We let Bush have his way...
Bush has done some stupid things and he's done some smart things, just like every other person in existence. A better comparison would be between Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson.
Recently LBJ was voted as the worst American president ever, mainly for his role in the Vietnam War. Many people forget his highly successful war on poverty and work for the rights of African-Americans.
Bush on the other hand has done little for the USA, some success in Afghanistan, and a near-complete failure in Iraq. At this rate, Bush be remembered as a worse President than LBJ. Unlike LBJ, Bush still has some time to prove that he isn't a failure of a president.
Yes, there are things that Bush could do to turn him into Hitler, but he is not going to. Bush is not evil, he doesn't want to control the world, he's just doing things that many of us don't agree with. Opposition parties have a habit of killing their chances by treating their opponents with hate instead of the respect they deserve.
If nothing else here makes sense, get this: prejudice should not be met with more prejudice, but with respect and logic.
Thanks for making me think!

The amendment was never something any of them planned would ever possibly pass; it's a distraction to keep the public concerned on topics other then the current problems facing the government and nation with the foreign policy, immigration policy, congress, military, Iraq, Republican party, etc.
Rather then make a clear (or any) actual decision regarding any of those other problems, the administration cops out by bringing to light a matter that will not really affect anything no matter what the administration does, will gain some support for the administration among the "religious right", and will divert public and congressional attention from all the above stated.
Pretty well Bush saying "Hey! What's that over there?!"
