Castro relinquishes power!

Postby Caoimhin » Tue Aug 01, 2006 10:19 am

I just heard on NPR, that Fidel Castro has reliquised power to his brother for the time being, because of "internal bleeding". It was was apparently a brief five-minute announcement last night on the Cuban news. Some Cubans beleivethat he may actually be dead, and the Cuban "refugees" in Miami were celebrating as if he was. This is a very interesting turn of events.

Bear in mind that Castro nearly eliminated illiteracy in Cuba and revamped the health system. He wasn't all bad.

Well I found out it wasn't "internal bleeding", but rather "intestinal bleeding". He apparently had an operation and is reported be be healing well. But he is putting power in the hands of his brother for at least a few weeks.

Wow, thats pretty impressive, though I think that would have been easy, if you take the size of Cuba into account.

No, he has to be able to taunt at least two or three more U.S. Presidents :P
