New York: Judge Upholds Polygraph Machines for Sex Offenders
A federal appeals court ruled that lie detector tests can be used to ensure convicted sex offenders obey the rules of probation and that a ban on Internet use is appropriate for some. The ruling pertained to Jeffrey A. Johnson, who used the Internet to lure children. (Associated Press)
First let me say that I'm not keen on polygraph machines. Because of their unreliability, I understand that their main value lies in getting ignorant people to tell the truth, thinking they couldn't get away with a lie. How much longer will people fall for it?

But what baffles me about this story is that the ruling is specific to sex offenders. Shouldn't any ruling on lie detector tests apply to all suspected crimes?

I believe it only applies to sex offenders because we need every way to get sex offenders in jail that is possible. With sex offenders a mayber is oakey
