See, here's the thing...I really hate October.

Not the month itself, just the name. It offends my sense of order.

You see, you've got this random -ober month right in the middle of the -embers: September, October, November, December...it just doesn't seem right at all. I mean, imagine if March came right between the -uary months, neh?

So from now on, October is to be re-named Octember, to put it in line with its fellows.

What makes the -ember suffix superior to the -ober suffix? Why not rename September, November and December Septober, Novober and Decober? And what of the rest of the year? June, July, August? There's no pattern there. Why not Janember/ober, Febember/ober, Marchember/ober, etc.? In fact, one could do away with our current names altogether. They don't make a lot of sense, anyway. We should switch to Unember, Duember, Triember, Tetrember, etc.

Although that is mixing Greek and Latin roots. And October uses the -ber suffix to the Latin number octo, like November does with the Latin number novem. Maybe we should go for Unusber, Duober, Tresber, Quattuorber, Quinqueber, Sexber, September, October, November, December, Undecimber, Duodecimber.

But that's just silly.

I've got it. Because october has 31 days, all months with 31 days become -ober. All with 30 become -ember. February remains -uary (although perhaps we'll finally get rid of that damned silent r).

Janober, Febuary, Marcober, Aprember, Maycober, Junember, Julober, Augober, September, October, November, Decober.

This would simplify the matter of remembering which months have how many days. All you have to remember if whether the year is divisible by 4, or if it's divisible by 100 AND 400, to remember the febuary length.
