Hearing a crackling sound from ones computer then smelling burned plastic is never a good thing, and because of it I will be gone for a week or two while my computer gets fixed.

Until then I'll be on now and then (AKA whenever I can get access to a computer)

Yea, burning smells can bring no good when eminating from a comupter. One of my friend's hard drives half melted recently.

I just hope your computer didn't meltdown because of chicken feathers clogging up the fans [shakes head recalling how little he got paid to fix that]

Never let the magic smoke out. If you do you can never get it back in and it stops working forever. Magic smoke is the pricipal befind all types of energenaring.

I remember one time I let the magic smoke come out of a computer. There I was in a computer hardware class replacing jumpers on an LED display so it would say "hot" or "duh" depending on the Turbo switch (old computers, they were).. Poor thing smoked up and joined the paperweight section. It did look cool just before it failed, and I did jumper another one that worked soon after, so it all worked out..

Well I'm back now... and it seems there was actually nothing wrong with my Computer, just a random noise and smell. If only I'd actually tryed turning it back on to see if it still worked... stupid technology.

Welcome back, my fellow New Zealandite! Those computers, always making noise. Although not always smelling. Oh well. Glad to have you back.
