Misinterpret the hell out of this comic.

In this strip, Chiyo and Osaka are very worried about some piece of news. Chiyo-chan is too nervous to open the letter, so Osaka does her the service. Osaka reads the letter to Chiyo, who is upset by its contents, and both girls erupt in tears. I personally am willing to bet that their sadness is an overreaction.

You follow the letter but not the spirit of misinterpretation.

It's actually a rejection letter from college for Osaka by the way.

My initial guess was something very similar to that, but I realized that my probability of being correct was not high enough to nearly guarantee me to be correct, so I made my summation be a little bit more vague and general.
