Technically, Valentines day originally celebrated the death of a saint who healed a blind a woman through the love of god. Now it's just about candy, flowers, cards, and "hanky panky".
I personally don't like valentines day, I've never understood it, I've never cared for it or liked it, so I choose not to celebrate it

I'm going to teach my kids to not celebrate any of the pointless holidays (V-day, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc). Saving a shit load of money is only half the reason.
