Ghosts

Postby Segovia » Sat Jan 17, 2009 8:23 pm

Okay this thread has to do with anything on ghost. This includes pictures, videos, or any past experiences.

I for one have, experienced ghosts before. A couple of weeks ago I saw a shadow that was in the shape of a blob in the door way of bed room. What makes it extra wierd that my brothers saw it too. My dad had some expeirences with unexplained footsteps and I saw a white shadow in the TV room of my house.

If you have a story or a experience you would like to share, we are interested in hearing it. Maybe could dicuss it to see if it is real or not.

Ok to get things started off here's an Mexican legend about a ghost called La llorna (The Sobbing woman)

There are many versions of this story and they say that it really did happen. Most people say that it happened some where near the Rio Grande.

The way I heard it is that there was an widow with three kids. She found a new boyfriend that didn't like her kids. In desperation she took her kids to the top of a cliff that overlooked a river and threw them into the river. But then the boyfriend left her because he found another woman. Depressed she took herself to the cliff where she drowned her kids and threw herself into the river. Now she wanders along all the rivers, crying and looking for her children. They say that if she sees you she'll take you away and you'll never be seen again.

They say that this is a Texas legend because the suppose it river is the Rio Grande but I think it's one of those stories that parents tell their kids so that way they won't run off at night.

To clarrify this is not a thread for urban legends in gereral. If it has to do with ghosts, post it here.

You don't have to tell me twice Dr. Dos. They say that the alamo is haunted, there's this hotel that's haunted. Hell, my whole city is haunted!

Back when I was 17 I was a paranormal fanatic. I went on ghost hunts and stuff. It seems like Galveston and San Antonio were regarded as the two most haunted cities in Texas.

But meh. I dunno anymore.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

I've seen two things that convince me that there are no ghosts: diddly and squat.

Show me some evidence, and I'm totally down with potentially changing my mind, but until then, I'm not buyin'.

Ok here some proof.

Responding to Angela's response. I actually went to a school where they said that the auditorium was hauted. One time I actually wanted to do a ghost hunt throught the school during the Lock in we had. But the principal didn't allow us. Damn it.

All the evidence I've seen for ghosts has been hearsay, dodgy or potentially doctored photographs which could have been of something else entirely, and television shows which gain all their viewings from the idea of the existence of ghosts.

As long as nothing more scientific appears - a peer-reviewed study would be nice - ghosts are in the dreamt-up-by-society category.

EDIT: Segovia: I wouldn't call that video proof - I would call it faked.

I would agree with Nick that some photos like this can easily be explained as mist or some kind of relection.

However it's not as easy to explain photos like this.

ghosts? of course not, what would cause them?

aliens, on the other hand...

oh and as for that picture, johnathan: I don't see anything needing explanation. Sure, I see some shapes that some people might say "OH MY, THEY'RE OUTLINES OF GHOSTS!" but in reality, no they don't really look like anything. the explanation is "it's an old picture taken with antiquated photographic technology"

My house is apparently haunted, but I haven't had any experiences. My sister says she does sometimes though. From what Ive heard it seems more like faulty wiring and whatnot, but there isn't any definitive proof of that, either. I'm not the biggest believer though.
