Keep Walking.

Parish Walk 2008. Last year, I walked to Rushen (19 miles). This year, I walked to Peel, which is 32.5 miles, but includes The Sloc (where you walk up a mountain road so steep that my old car struggled to get up there. Mind you - it was a Rover).

However, that's not the full story. The full story is that in November, I spent a month on chemotherapy drugs and totally lost my physical well-being. So it goes. Nevertheless, I signed up for the Parish Walk and, in weather conditions so bad that other Parish Walkers have been hospitalised with hypothermia, I managed to get to Peel, which is as far as you're actually allowed to go unsupported (anyone walking beyond Peel has to have a support vehicle).

Some phorographical imagecreation-machines.

Receiving a hat that saved my sanity, for the backflaps on it protected my iPod earphones during the storm that raged endlessly

Proof of Hat and, also, The Sloc. Look how FAR BENEATH me the background is.

Oh. 7h, 25mins, putting me in the top 18% of the folk who reached Peel. (148th out of 790).

Aside from me, this dude:

This dude walked the full 85 miles in less than 24 hours. He was ahead of me for eighteen miles. This dude is fúcking awesome.

Good job.

I've done something like that before, called run for the cure.

Very nice walking, and that is one fancy hat. The one-legged dude is indeed terribly awesome.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice at first that he's missing an arm as well.

Awesome job to you, but goddamn that other guy is effing hardcore.

That other dude is the epitomy of magnificent. I am totally going to hunt him down and shake his hand at the Award Ceremony.

One of his legs is prosthetic. That's cheating.

Good job dude! I'm horribly out of shape, probably wouldn't have made it past the 10 mile mark or something.

You should have ran that like a MAN.

But good job!

So that we may someday understand...

Ooo, you get DQ'ed for running. Cause it's GAY.

Actually, you do get DQ'ed if your race-walk is too close to running. The rule is: One foot on the ground at all times. There're Parish Walk Cops everywhere to check this.

I'll be honest, I've probably walked around that first amount you did in one day in NYC.

No matter what, congrats on making it to Peel. You say that your Rover couldn't make it? That's pretty funny.

That one-legged, one-armed guy is THE winner at life. Shake his hand heartily at that award ceremony.

Nice job man, nice job! That other dude is unbelievably badass though, I must say, he's winning at life big time.

Edit: I just noticed that you're so good, you got to have a photo of you watermarked by a stock image site!
