A wonderful Rant for this country :3

Postby Priest_Revan » Sat Mar 01, 2008 2:25 am

Titled: "Oh f*** you America"

========
"Welcome to the country of freedoms. A place where you are free to do anything you want... as long as your straight."

No, I'm being f***ing serious here people. Why, in this country of limitless freedoms, are people who are not the same not treated the same. Look, I'm a foreigner to this country myself. I came here years ago, confused about the American public and everything in this godforsaken country. I came here believing that America really did care about it's people... but I guess I was wrong.

This country is led by religion, and in that, religion runs this country. Separation of church and state my a$$. If it were that easy, Bush (and many other politicians) wouldn't be against gay marriage (or even gay civil union) because of their religion. He would have a logical reason to be against it... but once again, I'm giving people too much credit. Close-minded idiots if you ask me.

Look, I have nothing against the Christian religion, but if God is truly all forgiving, he wouldn't sentence those he created to suffer forever because of what he made. He's the almighty creator, is he not? He wouldn't have "evil gays" if he didn't want them, right? But it seems I might be wrong... maybe gay's where just a "mistake" that he made during the creation. Everyone tells me that "Jesus loves you" or that I'm "God's child"... then why would he forsake me?

All in all, I don't hate Christians ('cause I am one) and I don't hate this country... I just hate those who are unwilling to change their ways, whether it be towards blacks, gays, lesbians, etc.

I'm done here.

Lack of conviction rends this rant in twain. I don't like people who use modal qualifiers when stating opinions.

Why, I'm compelled to write a serious reply without any stale /b/ memes. First topic in DC that did that. :? Oh, and between my last sentence and this one, I spent almost an hour going through most of 2AC and your DA. I'm a compulsive clicker, and no click provides more instant gratification than a webcomic link.

Oh, right, serious post and everything.

People are afraid of homosexuality for the same reasons people are afraid of everything. What they can't understand, they hate, and since there are more of them, they win (the wonderful effects of a majority-rules society). This must be the same instinct that kept inferior members of a species alive throughout evolution; make sure that anything different (in the case of natural selection, better) is eliminated. In summary: the majority of any species has to be inferior, and therefore less intelligent and advanced than the rest; just a rule of percentages. A lighter take on stupidity.

I'm not sure I'll ever even understand what a reasonable person could possibly have against homosexuality. It's not as if the world population is dwindling, and everyone needs to mass reproduce. If you want to be extremely pragmatic, the world is over-populated, which means we need less people making babies, but I don't think anyone sane would use that as argument.

Saying that Christianity is against homosexuality is just and outdated, outmoded statement. Religion needs to change along with the world, or perish. People have been gay since people have been straight. It's just that, in today's world (which is more open and has more mass media than ever before), it's more commonly accepted. A religious intolerance of it is ridiculous.

Meh, ranty. Whatever my point was, it got cannibalized by the massive amount of TEXT.

Clearly I lied, since the internet managed to find its way into my first link. Silly intrawebz, taking over the world.

Come to Canada. Sure, we don't have a constitutionally-imposed wall of separation between church and state, but that just means nobody makes a big deal about religion in politics.

I don't understand homosexuality, but I'm more bored by it as an 'issue' than filled with hate or fear.

That said, I find it hard to fear anything with less than eight legs.

Friggin' spiders. Now THERE'S a social issue.
