But American cheese is a disgusting insult to all other cheeses, and I don't like cheese with beef in general :-)

You can put any kind of cheese on a cheeseburger. Although I guess if you don't like any kind of cheese with any kind of beef then we have a whole new can of worms to discuss.

Processed cheese is horrible. I never make a cheeseburger with that anymore - I use a mixture of pepperjack and provolone. And mix diced portabello caps in with the meat. Or sometimes I'll go crazy and mix the cheese in with the meat again. I even made a lamburger once, but that's an experience best left unrepeated.

I actually seriously considered using goat cheese in a cheeseburger once (a delicious, rich-tasting variety called "Little Napoleon" a local creamery sells), but decided it would end in a messy failure

Crud, I'm hungry now. And wishing it was warm enough to barbecue. Mmm, cheese.

It's strange. I used to love hamburgers and still enjoy many burger substitutes (when they actually try not to be just nutty clumps). I like most cheeses, including American ones. But a burger with melted cheese was always difficult for me to tolerate. It bothered me that menus had bacon cheeseburgers but not bacon hamburgers.

You can ask for a bacon cheeseburger without cheese. My brother is allergic to cheese and he does it all the time.

Since my parents are from Wisconsin, our fridge is usually packed with several varieties of various cheeses at any given moment. My friends apparently cannot fathom what we do with all that cheese.

Personal favorite: brick, followed by cheddar.

Cheese is king. Pure and simple. Cheese can be our best friend or our worst enemy.

I don't like cheeseburgers.
They're the new Spam. :-P
Spam is yummy, though. Cheeseburgers aren't.

How can you not like cheeseburgers? They are a hamburger but with cheese!
I don't like cheese. (except on pizza)

I would slaughter an African village for a wedge of fried Brie. One of those really photogenic ones. All harrowing and emotive.

All of them, dead. Just for the cheese.
