Happy New Year

Postby BladeRaptor » Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:48 pm

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and soon, it will be 2008. New Years is a big occasion in my family. Here in Philadelphia, we ring in the new year with the annual Mummers Parade.

My father and two of my brothers will be in that parade. This will be my father's 70th year going up Broad Street as a Mummer. Today's Philadelphia Inquirer had an article about him on the front page of the Local News section.

At the End of a String

So, to all of you forumites, Happy New Year!
It is a mistake to fancy that horror is associated inextricably with darkness, silence, and solitude. I found it in the glare of midafternoon, in the clangour of a metropolis...

For some reason we were talking about New Years at Thanksgiving. My cousin's wife revealed that she actually puts the kids to bed at 11 because they live in the midwest, but watch the ball drop. Neither kid had realized this. I told them they should refuse to go to bed until midnight. I like to think that I caused my cousin and his wife some grief.

HAPPY NEW YEAR DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

To me it makes more sense to have the new year start at winter solstice or some date in spring to better signify the new beginning. But centuries of tradition aren't going to change so easily now, so I go along with how it is.

For now.

No...not my first post for 2008 but my second one. Happy New Year everyone. May 2008 truly be a year of hope, joy, peace, and love. And to counteract my own well wishes I will add...

GO DAWGS !!!

Tear Hawaii to pieces tonight in the Sugar Bowl!

*clears throat* Ahem....Happy New Year once again to all. Take care.

*grumble grumble* had to work a #@%& 12 hour shift over new years... 5 P.M. to 5 A.M. *gag*
And only because I had to stay an extra 3 hours to finish everything because we'd been so busy.

I'm back at work today myself. Not that I'm really complaining. I would have like the whole week to prepare for classes starting next week but I need these hours of work. I'm kinda celebrated-out anyway.
