I've had the same thing happen. Though I don't think I was running. I think I was riding a bike. I used to do that a lot.
That reminds me of the annual summer disastrous bike trip my family used to take. Someone would get injured every time, or sick. Good times. Good times...

This one time I was walking in the drizzling rain and a raindrop fell through the space between my glasses and eyebrows.

I've had a pine needle blow around my sunglasses and into my eye. (Very painful) That was during the time I was going to college and wore blue tinted sunglasses at all times of the day.

I've also had large drops of water or snow fall down my collar or land in my ear. "Ack!"
