So what's the rudest way you've introduced yourself on iRC and how did the room you were in respond? Also do you message people you've just newly added on MSN randomly without explaining who you are?

I'd been on the IRC for a long time with nothing happening. Then...
Nobody said anything! (wow)
So I said something like "This is so much more interesting than the forum. (Note sarcasm)"
Then the insults and smileys flew, for a few minutes. Then more silence.
And now: more silence.
What do these people have, lives or something?

There's peak hours, I dunno when exactly. But most of the time, even if there's a dozen people they'll be idle and not actively seeking to chat.

I'd say it does, yeah.

Honestly I usually don't say much upon entering a channel. I just let the conversation (or lack of one) play out and join in if I can.
