LED's?

So how many lights does your modem/router have on it? Mine has 4 active normally and a fifth comes on when I'm using the phone

my modem has 6 lights, 7 with phone....my first switch has an additional 4 lights, firewall has on average another 4 to 6 lights on....and my gigabit switch has on average 12 lights on
What is sad is they are all on all the time, and there is no easy way to disable them. In general use the lights are almost meaningless. What a waste of electricity.

not I'm back; now this thrad is in a better place I can say I have 4 basic lights- power status network and wireless, and 4 port lights
and that leds comsume so little electricity I think that turning on a monitor takes up more energy than leaving all the leds on for a year jent =| I lack the money to try this but you could probably just short the led if you REALLY wanted to save electricity

Not including my cable modem I have 24 LEDs on on my routing equipment.
And Tai is right, LEDs are incredibly efficient. For the same luminosity they use 10% the power of an incandescent lamp and nearly half the power of a compact fluorescent. And for the scant amount of light they produce, those always-on LED status indicators likely use a miniscule amount of power compared to any other electrical device in your home.
