University of...?

So, I'd been looking at google one night some months back, wondering where to go for college. As this family can't really afford to go anywhere for college without going into debt, I viewed that as I'm free to go anywhere I'm accepted to for college as long as I accept that debt. So, I began to think of places that may be nice to go to college. England, Ireland, Norway; the usual. Well, I entered "University of England/Ireland/Norway" into google search, clicked on the first relevant link, and found that all those required some thing or other I couldn't provide. So, I thought of another place and entered it in.

"University of New Zealand."

I clicked the link, looked around, and it looked interesting. Looked around further, and found that I meet the requirements to apply. So I did.

Turns out I got accepted.

'Course, New Zealand is more or less literally on the other side of the world from here, and 23,000 NZD is around 17,600 USD. Still less than almost all the other schools I looked into in the US, yet still a whole lot.

However, not sure if I could get into New Zealand, I also applied at the University of St. Cloud, Minnesota and got accepted. Their annual cost is would be around 7,000 at most, and a whole lot less work to get there.

If I go to NZ, the fees need be paid by July 2, and classes start July 16. If I go to St. Cloud, I got till the usual September.

So, to get some other views on the matter, which do you guy's think would be good to go to?

Unfortunately, you hold no mastery over the proper time for which to use that emoticon.

17,000 still seems like a helluva lot of money dude...that and it's right far away. You'll probably only be able to go home once a year (if that).

I'd suggest looking for one closer to home, like Canada or something. But then I guess you've probably already done that.

British universities are pretty good too, but I'm sure you'll figure something out :wag:

I guess you could move one state away and go to Minnesota.

OR...You could go to New Zealand...HOW?

Here are some possible ideas:

1) Attach yourself to a flock of flying kiwis.
(What kiwis are flightless? YOU LIED TO ME WIKIPEDIA!)

2) Hitch a ride on a passing America's Cup boat.
They really can't stop, I'm afraid.

3) Ask The Donmeister to give you a ride!
And then he will make an offer you can't refuse.

That is my take on the situation.

Isn't that a bit much for a tuition fee? I pay maybe one fifth of that...
Furries? Are they the nutters that pretend to be animals and draw humans that look like animals? Christ, I sink my head into my paws... -Rooster

By European standards, perhaps, but America has (more often than not) annoyingly high undergraduate tuition; out of eight universities I looked into in-country, all but two of them had tuition over 25,000 USD annually. :|

If you went to any private university at all, or any public university out-of-state, you would expect to pay at least $17,000 a year in the US. So that's actually a very good price for out-of-country.

But back to your question. I would do it personally, but I'm not all that attached to my friends and family. I think a phone call now and then would be plenty for me. If you're more attached to the people in your life, you might want to consider somewhere closer.

I just think university in NZ is a really awesome opportunity. I'd definitely take it if I had it.
