I'm unsure how to vote for this one. I've played DDR 3 times. It's freakishly addictive, but I refuse to be addicted. I've seen what it's done to some of my friends. They're the kind that'll drive an hour up to an arcade in Philly and stay there ALL DAY and do nothing but DDR. They can beat Max 300 and MaxX Unlimited on heavy and can do all sorts of insane hard stuff and all they ever do is DDR. It's fun every now and then, but I refuse to have my life taken over by it. To modify a Llewelyn quote: "DDR is much like ordering a pizza. Ultimately, it's bad for one's health, so it's best enjoyed infrequently. It can, however, be a fulfilling experience if one chooses the perfect blend of songs (or toppings). In the end, one is left with sore legs, swollen ankles, a partially broken pad, and the lingering song stuck in one's head." Yes, that quote makes even less sense than the original, but who wants coherency? Now I want pizza, but never DDR after eating, you'll wreak havoc on your stomach (I've been to a DDR party where food was served: bad combo). I do agree with FoxChild's old rant in his LJ: it is good exercise. I've seen people lose weight after starting regular DDRing. I still have no intentions of buying my own pad and game. I'll stick to playing occasionally at a friends house.

You shoudl try DDR and don't be afraid to get adicited as long as it's a health adiction. One must have room for other this in life but ocasonaly goign down to the local arcade and playing for a couple of hours isn't unhealth. Neither is ocasonaly driving several hours to play all day.<br><br>Hobo you realy don't know what you're missing. Before I tried it I thought "that is so stupid. I will never waste time playing it" Then I was in an arcade with a couple of friends waiting on one on the toilet and me and another person decided to try it. We were there and were jsut standing there so why not. I loved it.<br><br>I don't go as fequently as I like because the group that I went with twice dosn't want me wiht them anymore. It's a long story and it's basicly because one of the groups long time members started to hate me after being my best friend. *sigh*<br><br>I hope to get to play over spring break when I go home. I know somebody there who loves it as well .

I've yet to go to an arcade and actually play, but I've been addicted to Stepmania for about a month now. The game is excellent.

I've played once. It was during French class; the teacher wanted to know what Dance Dance Reveloution was, and one of the students brought in his Playstation, complete with dance pads. I volunteered to show the teacher what it looked like with two people.<br><br>It was basically what I expected: jumping around on a plastic mat that refused to stay still. I nearly fell over, completely messed up the song, and exahusted myself in a few minutes. Well, not quite exahusted, but my legs sure were tired. It's not bad, but it's not something I'm very interested in.<br><br>The DDR machine at the local arcade actually replaced another machine where you waved your hands above/below the left/right sensers for the beat. <i>That</i> game I liked, but I only got to play it twice before it vanished. Erik, give the arcade another shot. it picks up when you do something other than beginner. I remember trying beginner and saying "This is boring," and Midnight immedietly said "well, move up." so i tried the next dificulty level... and now i'm horribly addicted. *sigh* back in the simpler days, where the arcades housed only pretty sucky machines, and there was no need to go... wait, those days kinda sucked. Well, i had my SNES to keep me company then!

The pads at the arcade are stable. I've never had any problem wiht thoise slipping.
