Raine the nudie?DCS recently drew a full frontal nudity of a shaven Raine Dog. The drawing is decidedly NSFW, so I probably shouldn't link to it, but you can get it from the Kinky Turtle, to whom DCS submitted it.

Many who know of DCS's zero-tolerance policy on porn involving his characters (including the adults, IINM) have been surprised by this drawing. One theory is that he means it as anti-porn -- that is, he hopes that Raine's privates will be so unattractive that people will stop drooling over the thought of them. I agree that she's a bit more photogenic with her fur and clothes on.

That's kind of... disappointing.

Yeah. It would have been better if he just hadn't done it, in my opinion at least.

For me, it depends on one thing:

Was there prurient (porngraphic) intent? Doubtful. Therefore, not porn.

That's something that's gotten lost in a lot of modern cultures, that simple nudity, such as you might find in a textbook, or art, or sculpture, photography - the *only* thing that would make any of that is the intent of the artist to be purile, or 'dirty,' and if the art had such content.

Since DCS is an artist on a different level, and with his previous statements, this would be classified on several levels above anything I would classify as porn.
Well, if the picture is just a nude, like you say, no big deal. If it's artistic, thats fine, Millie is often naked, and that's no big deal, it depends on intent. Now, I haven't seen the picture, so I don't really know, but the way Tom described it made it sound at least somewhat "bad". I don't really care that much either way, just stating my point.b

After hearing about it, I decided not to look for it. It doesn't interest me overmuch.

I have no idea what this "Kinky Turtle" is, so I can't see the image for myself. But, from how it has been described, Luke B. basically summed up my feelings. Nudity does not mean pornographic; Art has very many levels.

Agreed, if it was done for art's sake, then so be it. In my opinion, though, if done simply as a shot to those who would draw it other than DCS, well, that'd seem more to me like a 6 year old bickering with a 4 year old, sticking his tongue out and saying "Nyah, if you want it, work with THAT!" and smashing a play-doe sculpture, or something equivalent.

And it is! Even if all I'm seeing is the censored version here. I still don't understand where to go to see the real version though.
you want me to post the link?

But overthinking is what we do. You put something in the background of a comic and we'll spend hours or even minutes discussing the possible hidden meanings before getting sidetracked into talking about mashed potatos. All I'm saying is that boxed can't compare with homemade.1

Well, context is everything. And obscenity is all in the mind.+
