It'll be the biggest day in geek history...
Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo, for you MST fans) are currently working on George Lucas's opus.
That's right, Star Wars Epesode 1; The Phantom Menace is about to get it, MST3K style. So any MST/Star Wars geeks on these forums get your lightsabers and squeeky clown noses ready!
The Riff will be ready on November 1st.. I'll keep anyone who's interested up to date on this news...

WHOA. That makes me so very happy. How'd they get permission to do that? And... like, hasn't MST3K been off the air for many years? What's going on? I mean, I still get their gift catalog in the mail once a year... if the show were coming back, I think they would have mentioned it...
I AM SO IGNORANT

It's just the audio of them riffing (aka making jokes at the movie's expense), not the actual movie (which you have to provide). You can sync up the riffing to the movie.

Oh my gosh, my day has been made! I'll tell you, I miss MST3K so much. This sounds like the next best thing. I so can't wait to hear this.

So then someone with good video editing fu can take the film, sync up the audio in a separate track, play with audio levels in the original, add some Flash-animated robot silhouettes in the foreground, compile the whole mess and post the final result on YouTube? Schweeeet.
I don't mean me, of course. I don't have that kind of time.

As a MST3K fan, I very much approve of this!
However...I am still awaiting the day they riff Gigli, as that movie so desperately deserves it. Heck, it was even voted worse than MANOS!

It's AWESOME that we both like this, but SAD that we didn't know this about each other despite years of friendship.

I am such a lousy friend! I disappear for decades at a time! Every week!
