Quick question...

I was browsing through my somewhat decent collection of songs, and there's several midis that I have that I would like to turn into .mp3 format *cough Arloest's Midi's being amongst those couch*, for the purpose of putting on a recently-purchased portable device.

Now I know it was posted here once before, but I'm too lazy to go browsing through year-old topics to find it.

Could someone please explain how you could do it, with something like Windows Sound Recorder, or another device, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Audacity can do it, but you have to do it one song at a time.

Directions:
First
Project -> Import Midi
Open the Midi file to covert.
Then
File -> Export as MP3
Save where you want it with the name you want.

I'd prefer a free way of doing it, considering I don't have said software :P

Audacity is free, just do a search for it.

If you mean iTunes, I think you can batch-convert all the midi's after importing them into your library to some .3xmdag file or something...my computer's fried, and iTunes is low on my list of fixes :x

I look for a way to export into mp3s but I did not see any.

O_o iTunes can convert from filetype to filetype but midis are different from computer to computer and mp3/AAC/FLAC/OGG/Etc are the same. They're not as easily interchangeable, which is why one would have to resort to asking here.

Or I may have just made that up :P

Audactiy is totally free to use and also really easy. If anything, zip them up and I can do the converting for you, Miles. I'd be glad to help. :grin:

You have to have the LAME MP3 encoder for Audacity to convert. However, this is the best and easiest way to do it; it's not hard if you have the software.

Audacity
LAME Encoder

I'll definately give that a thought, heh. I'll gather up my four and five star rated midis. Probably be quite a few since I have somewhat of a collection of them. I'll do it in the morning. The only issue would be sending them back after conversion, since mp3's take up A LOT more space than midi's do.

Audacity can convert MIDIs?
*Tries.*
Dang, it didn't work, just exported an mp3 that was 1kb and couldn't be played.
