stamping up a "dialup users need not apply" produces an unwelcome sign from you and from everyone else associated with this forum.
...sorry *sulks off into his own humour*

In my opinion, if you're still using a 56k in this stage, then you need to learn that the internet has moved on while you were still downloading that one Mp3 you started 10 years ago.
Now, I'm not saying that anyone with one shouldn't be allowed here. But think of it this way; if you had a really old car that only goes about 40mph, even if it's all you can afford, you wouldn't go into the fast lane.

High speed Internet isn't available in some more remote areas. I know a guy with this problem.

I had crappy dialup for years longer than I wanted to because I couldn't afford broadband. Luckily for me, nowadays I *can* afford it.

Some of us can't help having dial-up. I couldn't up until a few months ago.

Me too. Traditional landline broadband isn't quite ubiquitous yet (I love that word!) but at least satellite internet, which is notorious for being worse for gaming than 56k because of high latency, BUT at least has high transfer rates, should be an option.

In the past yes an analogy between bikes and cars would hold. However, nowadays, if you continue the analogy you can find good cars for only a bit more than bikes. You just can't find them everywhere yet, but it's getting there.
My parents pay $35/mo for their broadband. AOL still charges like $25/mo FOR DIALUP (in fairness, they're probably trying to force people to switch to their samely priced broadband). I can make $35 in 5 hours at my part-time job.

and then theres the hippie college kids that don't have cars because it saves money, which goes with just about anything that costs money

What if it was a free car?
I mean sure, it's a lemon, but a car's a car...

...that almost makes me think that AOL is trying to hack you through broadband, or it is going to have a pop up program that will drive you insane...oh what I'm already there. *wonders what is after insane*
