I read the '89 speech before, but I didn't know about last year's. Nice to have him come out of his cave for that. He said nothing that surprised me, but it was still interesting.

I especially wanted his take on webcomics. He certainly guessed right about them. I was a little disappointed that he didn't keep up with them, but when you consider the luddite household of C&H, it makes sense.

I wonder why that one reader thought he was raised Catholic. I never got the impression he was religious, let alone denominational, and "Watterson" doesn't strike me as particularly likely to be Catholic.

Kinda makes you wonder why oh so many cartoonists want to get into newspaper syndication, no matter what the syndicate will do to the characters. As nice as the income and readership and the like would be, if it means betraying your characters to get it, is it still really worth it?

I remember a C&H comic where he has Calvin talking about how his grandpa thinks comics are going to the dogs, how they used to be wonderful artistic expressions, but now they're just a bunch of taking heads. Hobbes replies that Calvin's grandpa really takes comics seriously, to which Calvin says his mom is looking into nursing homes.

The funny thing about the strip was that all you could see in the strip were the heads of both Calvin and Hobbes. It's in one of the C&H collections I own...I'll find it, scan it and put it up here when I have the time.

There's a reason that particular strip was the first one included in the 10th anniversary book.

Yeah, I stumbled accross that site a while back. It was quite an interesting read, especially seeing all the bootlegged items.
