Yes, the revolutionary is ten years old today (or tomorrow for most of you), which is a cause for celebration. Doom is probably, all things considered, my favourite game ever and will always remain that way. It's still got an enormous fanbase and community, which I am a part of, and it's still as good as ever. No game has had the same atmosphere and feel as Doom. It's still scary too. You forget how old it is once you get immersed in the gameplay. Ahhhh....memories.

Gamespy has done a great artical, Ten Years of Hell. Good reading.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Well. I know I'm playing the original all the way through tomorrow. Doom always has been my favorite game of all time. 10 years now... I've been exposed to the violence at a young age

Doom, you're not getting older. You're just getting a little closer 'till death.

I've never played any Doom game, i'm not too familiar with any video game or games system at all and when the game actually involves mindless violence, i just don't play at all. Don't take this wrong, i'm not trying to stop others, they can do what they like.

What was that recurring game in Ozy and Millie? Blow Guys Up, or something like that.

They don't make 'em like they used to...the fact that DooM has a more believable and rewarding storyline than many current first person shooters is reason enough for me to love it eternally. Also, it had a chainsaw, and that was pretty rad. Heehee.
Oh, and here's one instance of such games seeping into the world of O&M...

http://doomworld.com which I never really go to, is doing the 100 greatest wads. I played a few now from 1994. For the first time in years I actually jumped. I've played several newer wads, and they really don't make anything like they used to :\. Galaxia, is the one I'm talking about, and I jumped when I found an elevator and... stuff happened.
