Gabbly Chat; IRC Alternative.

So a friend on another forum was looking through various internet programs and came across this useful program/website-
http://gabbly.com/
By putting that url before any net address, it creates a mini chat server for that website which will remain open for as long as you're on the site. Like IRC, yet without all the client/network/address work.
Try it-

Heh, pretty cool. Kinda strange though. I probably won't be using it that much except when I am signed on here and have a lot of free time.

Mozilla firefox chat?
Download the extension for Firefox,
Restart,
Open Chatzilla from Tools,
Type
/server nl.acidchat.net or
/server main.acidchat.net or
/server spicylemons.acidchat.net in the text bar.
Wait for it to connect. If it doesn't, try one of the other /server addresses.
When it connects, type
/join #DefineCynical in the text bar, and wait for it to connect.
Continue typing and posting messages as you deem fit, in compliance with DC standards.
As it stands, there seems to be a problem with some being able to connect to the Gabbly chat server, yet not being able to recieve any messages from it. I suggest closing the browser and trying to open the site again; it might work.

Try
main.acidchat.net or
spicylemons.acidchat.net
If those don't work, try another irc client and/or check if you've a firewall blocking the connection.

Even with Gaim, I cannot get acidchat to open. everytime I try going there, It either does not open anything at all, or send me to dragoneye.ca.

Try using a different port. I wasn't able to get on before I tried using port 7000 instead of 6777.
If that doesn't work... are you at a school or college dorm? Your IRC ports might be blocked, in which case try getting the
Your Freedom proxy, as I do, to bypass such restrictions.

It's easier than that, just download Chatzilla as normal and press the irc chat link on the top of every page in the forums, the Define Cynical channel opens automatically on Chatzilla. At least that's what happens with me, others may be different.

For my chatzilla, I prefer just to go to Tools > ChatZilla and click that. That logs me into three different networks that contain the channels that are my stomping grounds.

People in my school, or for that matter, in all schools get suspended for the use of proxies.
