Define Cynical Fan Forums

Just a little quiz. Now this isn't your 3 idols, this is the three people what you think have had the biggest influence on how you think, behave, are, ect.

If you say why as well it'd help others. if you don't want to, well then that's cool too.

Mine are (no order, as they're equal)

1 - My Dad = Possibly the coolest person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I hope I'm even half the father he is to me and my siblings.

2 - Woody Guthrie = Not many people know this name these days, which is a shame really. He is my favourite musician of all time. He sings such touchingly honest songs about the land he lived in, and a land that at the time (great depression USA) was in such poverty and turmoil. Truely a great, and there are very few of his songs that don't make me almost cry.

3 - David Craig Simpson = Not an asskissing. But all you have to do is look at my comic to see the DCS influences in there. He's probably one of the main reasons I draw a comic...if not THE reason.

anyway heres mine:

1. My Grandma - my mom worked during the day ever since i could remember, My dad left when i was 2 and is now in Arizona somewhere, but my grandma took care of me whgen i got home from school.

2. Any of My friends - my friends are some of the only people i actually get to talk to, and theres actually a funny story too...

3. Eminem - ok so why him right? well listen to these songs, then listen carefully, and then watch there music videos. When Im Gone, Stan, Lose Yourself, Sing For the Moment, Like toy siolders, Mocking bird, Cleanin out my Closet, Mosh, Spend some time, Crazy in Love, Solder, Halie's Song, Till i Colapse, Marshall Mathers.

She has been my best friend all my life. I get my personality, my kindness, my tolorences all from her teachings.

These are the people who have influenced how I want to plan out the next ten years or so of my life. Althouhg I have little to no chance of being accepted into the Naval Acadamy in Annapolis, I do want to try. I plan to go to the Navy for my education and plan to stay with it as a surface warfare officer.
(Also, I was listening to "Proud to be an American" While typing this. Funny huh? My player is on random.)

My friends Tom, Colin, Richard, Amanda, and Carrie.
The first four are my closest friends. I have learnded so much from them and can't ever hope to repay them.

Although I've only known of his work for a short time, I find that I have learned a lot of great things about philosophy and politics. I think that he's helped me keep an open mind and also let me realize how cute furries are. =^,^=

Well, I've decided to make up lost time since I've almost stopped posting on DC due to... stuff...

Anyway:

1) My father. He's not the most friendly, happy-go-lucky, or cool-tempered person ever, but he's the one person who was always there for me, despite us not living in the same house for many years. He's the one who pushed me to learn, actually, more of pushed me to want to learn. My interests are so close to his that we can talk like old friends, as well as father-son.

2) My cousin and best friend William. He's been my friend since before our school years, and we have been best friends for a long time. He got me into Star Wars, as much as he could. He's always been a good friend, and we have yet to actually argue, so that's nice.

3) My friend and mentor Brian. His insanity always keeps me at a healthy level of craziness, and his blunt, yet truthful critiquing pushes me to do my best. He's also inspired me to do things that I like to do, not what others think I should do, and I have to also commend him on the fact that we met online.

I'd add DCS, but I don't personally know him. Of course, I could say that I do, as O&M gives me an idea of what he'd be like. He's very friendly to his as far as I can read, and that's something that makes me say that he, along with Bill Watterson, Robert Heinlien, and Michael Crichton are my four idols.

Well, I decided to write a little bit of a rom-trag story...

When I was 8, I met the only girl I've ever fallen in love with, and probably will never feel the same way about anyone else. Her name is Carrie, and she's 14 right now. Back then, she was six, and we became best friends. I went to her house every day after school. By the time I was ten, I was head over heals in love.

Sadly, I was too shy...no, afraid to tell her. I was always concerned that her being younger than me would make her hate me if I told her how I felt. I'm not sure what year, but I have a strong memory. A memory that on one of my birthdays, she took me over and kissed my cheek. This memory makes my passion for her burn like a never ending candle of hope.

About a year after the kiss of my memories, I decided to tell her my feelings. As fate would have it, when I called she was out somewhere. Fearing I would lose my nerve, I decided to send her an E-mail confessing my love. This was what I think my biggest mistake.

About a day later, she replayed to it. She told me something to the effect, that she didn't really like me that way, and really didn't see any way we could be together like that. Although I can no longer remember the exact words, this message cut my soul deeply. Sadly, we stopped hanging out for almost two years. I felt too worthless to talk to her. Then about two years after the fatal mistake, I got the chance to talk to her in the park next to her house.

As I nervously asked her about the e-mail I had sent her, she spoke back to me as if she was annoyed at how important it was to me, as thought I was a pathetic soul looking for divine purpose. When I came to ask her of the kiss she had given me on by birthday years before, she simply denied having any memory of it. She would have been about 7 or 8 at the time, too young to remember or be held responsible. I suppose she is right. This tore that burning candle of hope into but a wick in a melted pool of despair.

Now, years past, I am at last able to calmly talk to her. I still feel the same love, but I know deep down the way she feels cannot be changed. This desire is what keeps that wick burning, and despite my attempts to diffuse that flame, it remains as hot as ever.

Dude, that beats my "got drunk and kissed someone-not-my-girlfriend" story, and that happened when I was 18.
