I have now seen The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I must say, it was awesome. Both people I rode with to and from the film had not read any of the books it was based on, and they both thought it was cool too.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, or just plain aren't familiar with the phenomenon that is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, basically it's the story of a guy who is rescued from Earth moments before it is destroyed, and spends the next good long while hitchhiking across the galaxy in a quest for adventure and answers -- that is, his host's quest, not his. To tell more would be to reveal too much about this excellent film. If you'd like a review, there are plenty out there; me, I'm on my way home for the weekend and don't have time.

I have also saw it and have this to add. Those who are fans of the books will recognize several jokes, ect. Those who have not will still find them funny if they have a good sense of humor.

And those who have read the books have to be aware that the plot is changed a bit. Just like how the plot of the tv show, the radio show, and the book weren't exactly the same. Don't look for 100% agreement and you should enjoy the movie.

As for me i can't wait until it comes out on dvd

Yep, I saw it on Friday as well and thought it was quite good. Better than I expected, frankly. I won't spoil anything, but I will say that I thought Alan Rickman had a perfect voice for Marvin.
I now have a full review waiting. Note that there are two versions, a hidden one for people who are familiar with the series, and one for those who aren't. It's the first movie review I've ever written, and I may have tried too hard to keep it brief, but at least it's something.

I personally liked the whole whale/bowl of petunias scene. Very twisted but very funny.
