does anybody know of any LiveJournalCode based websites? ones that are in early mode, or that have free accounts that work like paid accounts on LJ? or, any ones that <i>aren't</i> based on LJ, like Pitas.com?

So, basically, a multi-user blog site? The only one to come to mind is <a href='http://www.blogger.com/' target='_blank'>Blogger</a>. It allows for quite a bit of customization of the layout of the blog, and allows you to have multiple blogs. Also, you can use it in conjunction with <a href='http://www.audioblogger.com/' target='_blank'>AudioBlogger</a> to make posts via telephone.

Ah, yes. I've used blogger once. I'm looking more for something based on LiveJournal's code, though.

I'm not sure if there's any sites based on the LJ code. I'm not sure if it's proprietary or not. However, you might want to take a look at <a href='http://www.sixapart.com/' target='_blank'>Six Apart</a>. Six Apart owns several blogging sites and services, the biggest being MoveableType and LiveJournal.<br><br>Another site I've heard of is <a href='http://www.xanga.com/' target='_blank'>Xanga</a>. Can't tell you much about it, as I've never used it.

there's a lot of them. Livejournal gave out their code so that people could make LJs the way they wanted, in case they didn't think people should have to pay or get a code from some other member in order to join, or they wanted an extra feature, or something.

www.deadjournal.com<br>www.blurty.com<br><br>Those two use the LJ source code, but in my experience, LJ has the most reliable servers out there. Blurty is down almost every night, and Dead Journal isn't much better, plus it's ad-supported.<br><br>EDIT: Why exactly are you looking for some other blog site that isn't LJ?

at that, dead journal has a reputation to be more goth angst filed than even livejournal.

I want to have the features of paid accounts, but this is for my secondary journal anyway.

I'd switch from LJ because even though I have it switched off and have a paid account I still get that stupid PREVIEW WEBSITE LINK THINGIE OF DOOM appearing, so I actually had to install AdBlock Plus :/
