Last night I went to a Cake concert. The directions I was using were from mapquest, and were not accurate in the least, so even though we left two hours ahead of time, we still were an hour late. Luckily, we only missed the opening act, and even had some time left before Cake would take the stage.

The concert was in an actual theater-type building, and wasn't very large. Needless to say, it was sold out. It really was too bad that they didn't have it somewhere larger. The people that were there were die-hard Cake fans, though, and wouldn't have missed the concert for anything. That was obvious as soon as the band came on and started playing Sheep Go To Heaven. Everyone was singing along with John McCrea right away. This trend continued throughout the concert. It was especially clear that everyone was a real Cake fan when the band started playing songs that never made it to the radio but were still excellent (Cake has a lot of those songs). Everyone still knew the words. I think the greatest part about being there with diehard fans, though, was that for once people weren't asking "Who's Cake?" If you would've done that, you probably would've been lit on fire spot. The more appropriate question would be "How can you not know and love Cake?" It definetly made me feel all warm and fuzzy to know that Cake has a solid fan base of die-hard fans, me being one of them.

One of the best parts of the concert was when they played Comfort Eagle. I love the song, and it was especially cool to scream out "Dude" with the rest of the crowd and do the clapping.

Anyways, some of the songs that they did were:
Comfort Eagle
Sheep Go To Heaven
Never There
No Phone
Italian Leather Sofa
I Will Survive
Stickshifts and Saftybelts
It's Coming Down
Ruby Sees All
Nugget
Wheels
Carbon Monoxide
Frank Sinatra
Comanche
Love You Madly
Motor

I can't remember any more off-hand than these. They didn't do The Distance or Short Skirt Long Jacket, which sort of surprised me. Still, it was an awesome concert; I just wish it would've lasted longer.

Even with getting lost and everything else, it was still well worth it. I can't wait for them to come back to Wisconsin so I can go see them again.

Plus, the bonus CD that came with preordering is pretty sweet. *drools*

I missed them last year when they came to Wisconsin, and I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I got tickets as quick as I could after I heard about the concert. I can't wait until next year to go to see them again; I can't even describe how great it was for me to be there.

I was wondering what crazy sort of thing this was untill I read the post. I remember hearing Cake on some cameo on Futurama. At least, I think so. I wouldn't know.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the concert, despite Mapquest's best plans to stop you. <img src='

Having not heard of Cake before, and having watched and liked the Comfort Eagle I went out and bought Fashion nugget. They didn't have Comfort Eagle which was a shame.

But they're cool - I like them <img src='

The pointless bizarreness of the video reminds me of <a href='
