Not every 17 year old can, or even wants to. Some refuse to fight a family member, or is too scared to fight back against said family member.

Agreed, if my parents hit me I'd probably take it. I'd be amazed more than angry though.

But everything else I wanted to say has already been said, so I lend support in this somewhat hollow display.

I guess there is, Sage..next time I visit my father I'm gonna see if I can move in with him. Sure, he's a drunk ,but he doesn't hit me.

And along with that I've been saving up money to eventually make a move to the U.S to be with the one I love; hopefully permanently so.

My drunk father did hit me a few times. Glad I'm no longer there. Though, I did have to move back for a few months back in 2003 due to financial difficulties, and problems rose again not only bewteen him and me, but between him and my 2 younger brothers who were still living there at the time. Fortunately, none of my siblings are there now (though I have a half-sister that still lives with him)

Seriously that's such a stupid and outdated concept. Alot of women are more than capable of kicking a man's ass. It's not like just because she's female that she is a helpless person who can't fight.


Also I can't even count all the times I have gotten into scraps with both of my parents. And not just run of the mill stuff, they've called the cops on me more than once because of it. They weren't afraid to get physical with me, or I with them. It's up to the person being attacked to defend themselves, no matter who they are up against.

But seriously, Tom Flapwell pretty much summed up my attitude toward hitting women.

Of course, it's not a good idea to hit anybody, except maybe to prevent that person from hitting.

I think violence in general is to be avoided, regardless of gender. But by the same token, if I'm ever in a situation where it's necessary, the sex of my enemies means nothing, and neither does anything but survival. There's no such thing as a clean fight.

I think that that is precisely the outdated concept he's referring to. I mean, if I'm threatened with bodily harm, and the way to avoind injury is to fight, then I will fight, no matter who my opponent is. Saying that hitting a woman in self-defense is wrong, or that hitting a woman for something is worse than hitting a man for the same thing, is akin to saying that hitting a caucasian is less/more wrong than hitting a black person or an Aboriginal.

Now, in some circumstances, there are men who will hit a woman because she is a woman, and in those cases, you have a point.

I was raised since birth to not hit girls, but if one attacked me intent on killing me or something like that, I would defend myself. You know, this reminds me of the strip in O&M when Millie insulted Jeremy and he says if she wasn't a girl he'd punch her, and she demands equal treatment for girls, and...... Well, you can guess that she regrets it.

Nyte hasn't been on the last couple days. I'm afraid something happened. The last thing he said to me was that him and his mate (his boyfriend) were having trouble.
