That war was waged with our forfather to get freedom, don't forget we saved your asses in WWI and WWII.Happy kill-lots-of-my-countrymen day!
WW2 maybe, but WW1? The Americans did NOTHING of tactical, or straticic importance in WW1, other than sell us and the French food, weapons, and equipment. All of which selling, meant that the USA got LOADS of money from our belegured government and that helped set the US up as the dominant power of the 20th Century.
Also, I was being silly. Of course, you have a right to celebrate getting rid of us, as the British Empire did some really nasty crapola in their territories that I still feel ashamed of.
Remember, we saved your asses in Vietnam! Or something.

Is this sort of one-upsmanship actually getting us anywhere or doing anything constructive?

Not always. Most timezones are exact hour differences from GMT. Though there are one or two half hourers. And I believe a bizare quarter hourer somewhere. And it's always 5 o clock somewhere! Just not here
It's always between 5pm and 6pm somewhere, of course, and it's always closer to 5pm than any other whole hour somewhere, rounding up at 30 minutes

Yay sending people who stole food so that their children could eat to Australia. Or something. Also, I was being silly. Of course, you have a right to celebrate getting rid of us, as the British Empire did some really nasty crapola in their territories that I still feel ashamed of.
The British Empire sucked, really, didn't it? Still, Had America of waited a couple of hundred years it would have been able to leave without the bloodshed and join in the commonwealth games.

I think Moddex responded to a part of my post I later deleted because I thought it mildly offensive (even if it wasn't). What I basically said was; Eastern or Western, humans are humans everywhere, they have the same failings and vices like everyone. From where we stand we see different religious and cultural systems and envision them as being cleansed of the failings we see around us because they look different. That was more or less what I wrote.
