Okay, I'm pretty sure there aren't going to be any more votes, so I'll explain myself and this poll:

For some instince in the uncertain future when I'll be on some board and I'll randomly bring up the topic of this discussion site, I'll say, out of nowhere, something to the effect of "It's true! Seventy-eight percent of Define 'Cynical' members say yes!" I'm quite sure it'll imediatelty bring up the question: "Yes to what?" And to stir up confusion like that... well, I just think that's funny.

Thanks for your input.

Clever. Fiendishly clever.

And to think we all fell into your trap. Have you ever considered becoming a criminal mastermind?

Yeah, but the 78% thing has so much more of a statistical feel too it than the fraction thing.

polls have a confidence level (how sertain the polster is that the reported results are representitive of the population at large) and it's based on the number of ppl who were in the sample, and possibly the total size of the population. this is what i remember from my statistics class, which was awhile ago. it's possible my memory is not completely accurate, so anyone who has a stat book is welcome to correct me (i sold mine, b/c it was pritty useless)
