I think they just follow all of the links on the page, don't they? Which would include the posting link.

Well yes, but they won't get the actual "post reply" page unless they're logged in, which they aren't.

The question then is, if a bot clicks on a Reply link and it brings them to the "login to reply" page, does that still show up as "posting a reply" on the Who's Online page?

I'm just gonna go ahead and say yes, as it's really not that big of a deal and I don't feel like experimenting.
