I'm ignorant of a vast number of things. I concede that readily. The number of things of which I am ignorant is hundreds of thousands of times greater than the number of things I know. The sum of human knowledge itself is staggeringly patchy.Especially with your copious amounts of incidental ignorance that don't affect your individual day-to-day events.
However, this is nowhere near as hilarious as people who are unaware of Australia's whereabouts, or think that the currency of the UK is the Elizabeth - especially since these things are common knowledge and should have been taught to them.

Oh, ouch, You previously claimed that it needed to be taught, therefore disenfranchising that definition.
Wait! Could it be that 'common knowledge' has to be inherited from others and, as thus, be entirely reciprocal and, as such, not the blame of the, as it were, non-receiver?
Who'd have thought?

Thither
Of course it has to be taught, but with free compulsory education for all, things that are taught become 'general' knowledge.Oh, ouch, You previously claimed that it needed to be taught, therefore disenfranchising that definition.
You're acting as though I claimed knowledge was something spontaneous or inherent. Clearly it isn't, but unless one hid under a rock during one's school years and avoids reading books/newspapers, both of which would be the non-recipient's fault, one is socially inclined to know these things. If one seals oneself in a little bubble and forget everything one sees that one believes has nothing to do with oneself, nobody is to blame but oneself. The resources are there, and if they are not utilised, that's not the fault of the resources.Wait! Could it be that 'common knowledge' has to be inherited from others and, as thus, be entirely reciprocal and, as such, not the blame of the, as it were, non-receiver?

If you mean what I think you mean (and I'm highly doubtful of this postulation) then I don't see the problem. You're deploying institution as a transcending concept.
