Seriously, if you go to a movie about robots that wage a good/evil war against each other and expect to see a complex intellectual New Wave film about the condition of humanity then you're going to be disappointed.
Unless that movie is The End of Evangelion.
BOOYAH! :D

I LOVED that movie.
...you're way too stuck up... for christ's sake... jeez... you have issues... you're an idiot.
I liked Kelix's take on it.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Technically the EVAs weren't robots. They were giant... things cloned from Angel DNA and with the souls of the pilot's mother. *cough*

Or Death and Rebirth.

...Or a movie based on Big Oh. God that would rule.

Actually, I think most Giant Mecha Anime post Evangelion were somewhat philosophical.

And yet Evangelion still classes as a Giant Mecha Anime.

Well, it was supposedly a send up of the genre. But also, theres no giant dead women/angel clone genre to wedge it into.

Well, apparently the Pilot Outfits were an attempt to come up with something that no-one would cos-play.

It was a failure on that front, apparently.
