It was really hard choosing between "All Dogs Go to Heaven," "American Tail," and "Secret of Nimh"

Curse you for making me choose.

But I chose American Tail.

I don't know if you'd count it as furry, but The Pebble and the Pemguin Is one of my all time favorites. Great music.
When you say Ali, do you mean the girl version of Littlefoot? if so you would have thunk she'd be in "The Great Longneck Migration"
Yeah, I was really disapointed by that, but I never expected him to meet who he did. <spoiler free thank you>

I'm amazed at how you know the actual names of the movies. Has anybody heard of Rockadoodle-doo or something like that?

I watched "All Dogs go to heaven" like six times when I was little, so I voted for it. That movie was really sad for a children movie.

But could you please stop putting the word "fur" in everything? It is laughable, and the movies are not even intended to be "furry" (whatever that means, anyway).

Yes, don't let those that haven't seen know Little foot met his dad.

I remember hearing someone calling the older (and better) Disney movies, "horror movies for children."

For example:
Pinochio (sp?) turning into a donkey
Bambi's mother getting shot
Simba's father getting killed and all the fun goose-stepping hyenas in The Lion King

I've heard that too about Pinocchio. Some reviewer/movie buff/movie historian/whatever claimed it was one of the most terrifying scenes he'd ever seen. He probably exaggerated; I don't recall being particularly frightened by it.

I wouldn't count The Lion King among Disney's "older" movies, but at any rate, I'm not sure if there's been a significant move toward animations that scare kids less. Sure, early years included the nasties of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, but just look at the villain in the last segment of Fantasia 2000. Besides, who's ever been scared by Cinderella?

The Queen in Snow White was supposedly extremely terrifying for the time. Apparently cinemas in England refused to allow kids in by themselves, they needed an adult because of her. She was drawn to be as scary as possible and Walt Disney said that they wouldn't go to such lengths in the following movies.

Of course, if you really want Children's horror, look no further than Doctor Who. Scaring kids since 1963 while providing entertainment for adults simultainiously. Apart from during a 16 year period between 1983 and 2005, when it was purely in novel and audio drama, and solely produced with old fans in mind, (and a comic strip in the montly magazine) form, apart from a brief foray into American television-movie territory.

I mean, I swear, I didn't think you could show people being mercilessly ripped to shreds by a werewolf on Saturday night at 7pm on BBC1, but earlier this year, it did. (granted... It was bloodless, which is something else that suprises me. They managed to not unrealisticly portray it on screen and simultainiously not show any blood)
