pika is also a type of mouse in real life in a mounton range some were I think. it has been to long since I looked it up, and their might be more to the name that just a 'P' 'I' 'K'and 'A'.

Unfortunately the phonetic language didn't come into common use until just recently, favoring the charactergrams, however there are forms of it that are extremely old.
