That looks so messed up.
I love it!
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

I gave it a shot for 20 minutes at a CompUSA.

Advantage: The store was well lit, and had a computer that ran Doom 3 VERY well.

Disadvantage: The store was well lit. The game has to be played in the dark.

My opinion? I loved every second of it. The atmosphere is intensely scary and the enemies are satisfying to kill. Fascinating thing is, they are so tough, you actually have to regard each one as an individual enemy, and pay attention to it, rather than just mow it down without thinking. That frame of mind will get you killed in this game. Imps actually take 3-4 shotgun blasts to kill. Great stuff! Though I expected more from the zombies.

I'm getting this game as soon as humanly possible. Hell, I may buy it before I even have a computer that can run it.

What I meant was that they were easy to kill. I thought you HAD to blow their head off to drop em, otherwise they got up moments later. And you could stand on em to keep em from getting up. heh.

Things to point out.

1. You can kill imps in 1 shotgun shot. It's a shotgun. The closer you are, the more damage you do. Thus, if you run up to an imp and shoot it point blank, it's a 1 shot kill. I've beaten the game, and I've had practice to do so with the shotgun.

2. There are several kinds of zombies. Regular slow easily killed guys. Dudes in armor with either a pistol, a shotgun, or an assault rifle. Flaming zombies. ( ) And chainsaw weilding zombies. And those are the normal ones. I won't tell you about the commando zombies.

3. You do not know scary until you meet some of the new and or refurbished demons.

4. You do not know how to s*** yourself correctly until you meet the new cyberdemon.

5. Nightmare mode. I..... R....... TEH.......... OWNIFIED..........

And BTW, if you guys need to know the MINIMUM system requirements, here they are. BTW2, if you plan on running the game and enjoying it on a high fps, hope your parents are rich. As the minimum requirements really won't give you a good experience.

An Nvidia GeForce 3 graphics card or ATI Technologies 8500
A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500
384MB of memory
Two GB of hard drive space

I built a new system with a AMD Athlon XP 3200 CPU, a ATI Radeon 9800 PRO vid card, 512MB memory, and 120GB hard drive. I get low fps often. It takes a very juiced up system to run this game. But it's so worth it.

I have a P4 2.8GHz, 2048mb DDR400 SDRAM (dual-channel x4 DIMMs), Nvidia GeForce FX5950 Ultra video card (256mb RAM), and about a hundred gigs of free space somewhere on my two drives. I'll probably install it on my SATA drive for speed.

The price in the different cases isn't all that different (I got mine for $20, the cases without windows range from $10-100), I'd say get the pretty case

I may not have to buy many new bits cos i found an old PC. Its got on-board sound and gfx, but i want it as a games machine. The problem is that there won't be enuff space for a decent gfx card.

Well, I've finally got the game, and I love it! ! I'm only up to about level..6 or so, but jeez I'm loving it. I can't believe how utterly awesome it looks on my crappy old GeForce 4 MX.

*goes to play some more*

I played it this weekend, and although it had lots of eye-candy, there was a slight bit of lag, so I'll stick to my beloved UT for LAN games.

I have some good tweaks for better performance.

1. Bring down the console by pressing ctl + alt + ` at the same time. Then type g_muzzleflash 0. This sets up your guns so that when they shoot, there's no light effects, giving you constant fps when you're gunning something down.

2. Go into your Doom3 folder, then go into "base" folder. Look for cg_cachemegs and set it to 1/4 of your current memory. 256mb = 96 cachemegs. 512mb = 128 cachemegs. 1024mb = 256 cachemegs.

But today I tried playing on different quality settings. I've been playing on low quality up til now. I set it to high quality, and strangely, it runs a lot faster than at low quality. I got a screenie of high quality, as well. I also played at Ultra quality, which runs at 200megs. :s Amazingly, the only real differences were that everything loaded slower and the detail I saw made me crap myself. It ran as fast as low detail. Just try messing with stuff to get to go faster.

looks like a giant mind flayer...

...i've seen the game being played... i don't like the feeling of powerlessness that this style of games gives me... it's a good game otherwise, but i like a game where i can be a bit more powerful... like DMC. or something...

i guess that spells "wuss" doesn't it?
Heh, that looks kind of like a Mancubus... I remember their flaming balls of doom... don't fight them in close range.
