I remember seeing this 8 year-old who was bowling with guards, and he deliberately bowled into them to get the right angle on the pins. He had a good strategy.

So unless you're 8, don't use the guards.

If he has such good aim to hit the right point ont he gaurd, he should have the right aim to hit the lead pin with spin on the ball perhaps?
