I'm old enough to remember a time before hard drives, but after 5-inch floppies. Yay for growing up with an Amiga 1000.

My current machine is five, maybe six years old now. Although most of it has been upgraded somewhat since then. Can't play Halo on it or anything, but it's perfectly fine for surfing the Internet and digital drawing.

I do need to clear up some space though. Is there any way to expand an existing partition into unallocated space? Don't ask.

I remember when the first CDROMS came out and wondering how they worked. And I remember trying to explain the internet to people when I was like...8.

Our first family computer was an Apple IIe... Graphics were simple blocks. And it used floppy disks. I loved playing "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?" and "Centauri Alliance"....

Ahh, all this takes me back, before the laptop, or the New Dell, or the old Dell, or that amazing 1GB compy that sits under my desk, and even before the old dos laptop, there was the Tandy.

Police Quest, King's Quest, space invaders. Good times.

Ohh, and then there were the state-of-the-art Commodore 64's at school, those were excellent.?

Who still does go to libraries for books and not using the computers?
so there's a high school football coach sittin on the couch,
with a toothpick in his mouth.
and the stray dog won't forget the day,
he tricked him with a chocolate shake. (little trick)

I live by small town libraries that don't carry shit and I have to get them to order books that take like 2 weeks to finally get here.

Ahh, small town, Ohio. I don't know how I could have lived there before the internet era.

"Back in my day.. we didn't have hard drives, we had 5.25-inch floppy disks, and we LIKED it! Four feet of snow, uphill both ways, blah blah blah..." :P
Back in my day computers had vacuum tubes and consumed the power of a small town, and we LIKED it!

I do. But ever since I discovered the Project Gutenberg site I've been frequenting them less.

I just did the math and Doom came out in 1994, when I was 9! JESUS, I was playing Doom when before double figures? No wonder I think Soldier Of Fortune 2 is "funny"...damn you desensitization!!!!
Yeah, me too. I remember the good old days when "R16" on PC games didn't actually mean anything. That was good.

Remember when Doom came out? Gawd, that was awesome. I mean, I'd played Wolfenstein, but Doom was something else. Got it on my dad's old IBM the month it came out in the UK.
Heh, and I'm probably the only one left here that still plays it. And has a Gigabyte's worth of various Doom Wads.

Yeah, I'm an old-school junkie.

As for my computer, it's in its third year of service now, and still purrs along just fine.
