I believe that it started around the 60s and 70s though. I'm not honestly sure whic really started it either. Cartoons? Music? Liturature?

Well, anyway, my efforts are to get rid of that image from our kind in general. I can't stand the fact that most people associate furs as some kind of vulgar minded, sex adicted people. Most actually aren't and I wish to disprove the current image they brand us with.

I'd rather generally abolish the need of anyone to stereotype, myself...

Sadly, society will never deviate from the use of stereotypes. Why without it, there would be no social classes, no styles, no trends, and so forth.

This was a rather suprising clip a friend of mine presented about a girl and her sudden suprize in learning of hard core furries. She totally panicked and assumed that all furries were like this... Kinda saddening that she doesn't understand...

I'm not going to read this entire thread cause it is very long and I don't really care. I just want to say I hate the idea of being a furry because it implies wanting to have sex with an animal and that is a shame because things like Ozzy and Millie are defined as being furry but is hardly ever about having sex with animals

Allow me to sum up. Furry history, contrary to your flawed knowledge, is not about people having sex with animals but rather more like O&M. There have been many -very- ancient accounts where animals were presented in an anthropomorphic manner, and they have little to do with the mainstream outsider's views on being furry. It is unfortunate that there are so many people who don't see that most who consider themselves "furry" are the much more benign variety in a sense truer to its origins.
