Kanira Baxter Preview

Postby RocketGirl » Tue Jan 27, 2009 3:03 am

So, there'z this project I've had in my head for a while now and I'm actually really close to seeing it realized.
I've wanted to tell a sci-fi story for a while, and I've been trying to figure out how to do it; I think the break came when I got hired to letter a graphic novel for a friend and I realized that telling my story would be best achieved as a graphic novel. Animation takes too long, I don't have the patience for prose...so...comic book. I'm still a 3D artist, but still frames + dialogue balloons = graphic novel.

Anyway, I'm not ready yet--I have a bit more prep to do before I'll start putting it online on a regular basis--but I've but together a first page of The Adventures of Kanira Baxter to show...

More later. 8)

The premise is, "What about Star Trek would have to change in order for me to like it?", which won't become apparent until well into the plot, but...yeah...

Comments?

EDIT: Yes, that's the same model as Sandra from Rational Station; Kanira came first. I just needed a quick model for RA, so I quickly recolored Kanira...

3.1, in fact. Bloody stone-age.

There's probably enough free software out there for you to make do. I know Blender and Wings 3D are two popular choices, but I'm not a modeler myself so I don't know what they have as far as texturing goes.

Before I was here, I used to be on a Star Wars fan film board; believe me, even MAX 3.1 is better than the free 3D programs out there. And it's the program I know, have skill in.

Anyway, this is missing the point, really...I was kinna hoping folks might render an opinion on whether they'd like to read more.

Believe me, Blender is pretty nice once you get used to it. Although it does take some getting used to.

But why are the eyes so large? I cannot understand this.

It was a stylistic choice.

At least I didn't go for the full-on anime.
