Red, yellow, and blue AIUI are distinguished as the primary pigments rather than the primary colors. I have no idea why physics should be such that the two differ slightly yet significantly.

Everyone fails that assignment.
It makes me feel better I'm not the only one who had trouble with it, though I was one of the only people in my class to fail it.

If you're talking about pigments, it's really more yellow, magenta and cyan. We just tend to say red and blue because they're more "basic" names, I guess.
